Avondale Clearing Sale
Mr R. H. Bisset, havingMecided to sub-divide his Avqadale Estate into small grazing runs, submitted tl^ Vhole of his live and dead stock to the hammer on Friday, 21st inst Favoured with ideal weather the sale drew a very large concourse of people from all directions. Motors, drags, gig?, i buggies, riding horses, and bikes, rolled up to the Homestead m an almost endless stream. Those who went t"; buy found the arrangements all -tbe> oould desire. These who went to 100 on spent au exceptionally p'eaaant da} m the Jove ly grounds about th ; H >me stead." The plantation of English trees bears evidence to the tasfce anc 1 forethought of the early occupiers of this famous estate, and the only rtf/rot one feels on visiting such a fine o'd homestead is that the auth rs of so much thai, is pleasant to look upon and that adds such charm fc ) the country side, should not live long enough to see the fruit of their labours The planting of such trees as are to b< seen at Avondale must havn dab d back to the beginning of civilisation m Wallace County. Man's inner wants were oatere ■ for hy Host Kingsland with lavish abundance, and the big marquee erected was a rendezvous for large crowds at intervals throughout the day. The sale was m the hands of Messrs Dalgeiy & Co, Ltd, and Messrs Gunn and Bcofct wielded the hammer and kept things humming. While the general average was a trifle below the Birchwood sale of a month ago. the sale was a lively one from start to finish, and there was not a dull moment, eveiy line bringing full current market value.
