Heddon Bush Notes.
We regret to have to record the death of a well-knowo and esteemed young lady of Oreti, Miss M-argaret Flanagan, whom we had hoped to welcome m our midst as a local resident, as she was on the eve of marriage. The funeral cortege, consisting of about one hundred vehicles, was said to be the largest seen, for a number of years. Mr Bull, the temperance lecturer, is to enlarge upon the ' evils of drink m the Heddon Bush hall on the 4th. of August. An entertainment will be given by the ladies of Heddon Bush on the 14th of August m aid of the hall funds. As an excellent programme is being prepared, we hope to haye a large attendance. The school attendance, I am informed, is slightly on the increase. The committee recently purchased a splendid 50 guinea piano, and it.saysmueh for the liberality of local residents when the greater part of that sum was voluntarily subscribed within a fortnight.
