The result of the Meikle case is that the judges have ruled that apart from the evidence of Lambert, who was subsequently convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for perjury, there was not sufficient evidence , to conviot Meikle of sheep-stealing, that consequently he had served a term of imj prisonment on insufficient evidence. Meikle will now have further grounds to prosecute his claim for compensation from the State. A^inasty accident happened to the youngest daughterof Mr Robert King j Clifden, on Tuesday last. She was driving several other children when the trap was upset, and sh» was thrown across a barb wire fence, sus\ taining a nasty wound on the fleshy part of the arm.
