Harvest Thanksgiving Services.

The annual Harvest Thanksgiving Services m connection with the Otautau Presbyterian Church were hold on Sunday, and at both services the church was full. The Rev. A. Macdonald preached at both services, and was listened to with marked attention. Mr Macdonold drew attention to the similarity m the world of nature to man's spiritual life, the texts being taken from I aiah 3Cch 7v, "The grass Witiier_th, tae flower fadeih," for the morning, and from Isaiah 9eh 3v, " They joy before thee according to thy joy m harvest," for the evening Appropriate hymns were rendered by a full choir and were very heartily joined m by the congregation. Two special anthems werq sung duriug the taking up of the collection.

At the close of the service Mr Macdonald, on behalf of the Church Committee, gratefully thanked all those who had sent such bountiful gifts, constituting as they did the choicest of the fruits of harvest, and intimated that the gifts would be disposed of on Monday morning at the shop of Mr Gordon generously given for the occasion, and the proceeds devoted to Home and Foreign Missions. He also thanked the Y. W.B. Class members for their work m receiving and arranging the gifts. At the sale a substantial sum was raised, so that the two funds named receive an acceptable and much needed help. The annual Harvest Thanksgiving m connection with St. Andrew's Anglican Church was held on Sunday afternoon, when Mr J. J. Boyd, layreader, kindly acted as substitute for the Rev. J. Morland. who was detained m Riverfcon owing to the burial of an old resident and parishioner. A large congregation was present. The church was prettily decorated, and the display of fruit, vegetables, ' etc, was very good. After the service these were forwarded as a donation to the Riverton Hospital.
