A congregational meeting was held m thb church on Wednesday evening, when some SO members attended, Heavy rain had fallen all day, and this prevented a much larger attendance. Mr Lindsay read the report o! the session, referring to the various organ* isations of the church, and the progress attained. ' > Mr Fisher read the repott' of the committee, with reference to the financial position of the church, and submitted a statement showing the contributions to the sustentation fund, and the annual weekly collections for the past four years. Both reports were adopted. After a discussion on the reports t . the following resolution Was carried, on the motion of Mr Fisher, seconded by Mr Officer :— " That . this meeting of members and adherents of the Otautau Presbyterian Church, having adopted the report of the church committee, resolves that effect be given to the -v reboramehdation m .the.?. Report, and ™ .pledges itself to assist . m raising the extra funds required to make the, church a self sustaining charge. Messrs McLaren and Muir also spoka m support of the moticm. The amount sought <p tie raised is £50 per annum, m addition to present contribution* 3 , m order to free the general funcL-i of the Synod of the grant presently paid to the congregation as assistance to the church, owing to tha. loss sustained m severing the Waiau . part of the parjsh from Otautau. On the motion of Mr McLaren, it .was resolved that the minister mtU 'mate, from the pulpit, to the congregation, on Sunday first, the Result of the'congregational meeting.
