»«ja«i^?*.«m— —————— —■——■» There is one famlly'in oar midst for which this Christmastide cannot' be a season of rejoicing. It was about thej, 3rd of ythis month that Mr' Henry Ravensorpft,^ Yellow Bluff, sudd enlyf arid unexpectedly passed away . His ailment at first being only influenza, which so young, strong and healthy a man was expected wvould throw off m a few days, and probably largely owing to this mistaken indifference to so common a malady. Influenza was followed by pneumonia, and suddenly the young wife and five young children were bereft of a strong, good, kind husband and father. On Christmas morning, about 4 o'clock, the young widow- gave birth to her eeventh baby, a fine healthy child, but a few hours afterwards the mother . suocumbed to an attack of syncope of the heart, which was not directly* attributable to her confinement,' which had passed off most successfully. It is hardly a year ago since Mr and Mrs Ravenecroft's eldest daughter was returning from the Hanmer Springs and died at Asbburton on hf:r way home, and some months later for some unaccountable reason, a bachelor •brother of Mr Ravenscroft shot himself while 3'aying at bis brother's house. To read of such a number of sad events m one family jn one abort ye:ir would draw forth the sympathy of every light and kind-minded person, but to those who knew the family the news is doubiy sad for Mr and Mrs Ravensoroft were h'ghly r/epeeted by all who knew them. The husband was a successful and model farmer, *n excellent neighbor and a prominent and w highly valued committeeman of th» Anglican CfcQroh, Otefltftu, and of the Otautau Public flohool, His memory will loog be revared by (these bo&Un wd b* » ho»t of fri«n4s and neighbors, ; y
