Feldwick Notes-
For the first time m the' history of Feldwick, a political meeting was held m the sohoolhouse, m the presence of about 85 eleotors. Mr John Russell occupied the chair,' and briefly introduced the speaker. Mr Macpherson, on rising, was accorded a hearty weloome and a very attentive hearing tbrougqout. He dealt with the various political topics that are engaging the attention of the public at present. After answering several questions satisfactorily, a vote of thanks and confidence, proposed by Mr Edward Davis and! seconded by Mr P. Torpy, was carried unanimously* carried. A vote of thanks to the ohair brought the meeting to a close.— Own Correspondent.
Sir J. G. Ward has issued "writs for libel, claiming LSOOO damages each from the. Evening Post and Naw Zealand Times for publishing an advertisement by V. M Braund convening a meeting to hear him deliver an address on oertain matters m Wellington on Wednesday evening,. Since being served with the writ, the " Evening Post " pro-: prietory have expressed to Sir Joseph Ward their unqualified regret that such imputations should have found a place m their columns and admitted that if due care had been exercised the advertisement would not have appeared.
