Four Postal Officials Suspended.
SEQUEL TO THE VOUCHER
CASE.
Messrs Willis, Larcombe, West and Lundon, the Ohristchurch Post Office officials, who figured so prominently m the voucher case, have been formally suspended by the Chief Postmaster until further notice. A letter from the Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department was nanded to Mr Willis, charging him with having oommitted certain breaches of duty by searching records and giving 'F. M. B. Fisher, M.H.R., the number and amount of voucher 15,819; informing Mr Fisherihat a voucher for an amount exceeding £70 had passed through the Ohristchurch Post Office, payable to E.J.S. Seddon for reorganising defence stores; delivering to Mr Fisher an affidavit that he, Willis, saw such voucher ; giving T. E. Taylor, M.H.R., a duplicate of the original of such affidavit, and sending with the other three, the following telegram fcf Mr Taylor: "We are confident that unrestricted public inquiry . will establish charge. Hope you will press your motion.
Mr Willis is required to plead to the charges, and is given to 18th September ta make any written defence.
Mr West received a similar letter with the omission of the first charge. Mr Larcombe received a similar letter with with the additional charge that he informed another person that a voucher passed through the Christchurch Post Office. Mr Lundon is charged only with sending a telegram.
