Brakes Check to foe Made Organised checks on the brakes of motor-vehicles throughout New Zealand will start this week in an endeavour by the Transport Department to ensure mechanical fitness before the holiday season. Oaonui school was built ill 1894 but is not the oldest in this group, some dating back to 18TG. Soaside Society Annual Meeting The Annual Meeting of the Opunake Seaside Society will he held in the Town Hall on Monday 31st October, at 7.30 p.m. and all members and others interested in the welfare and administration of the beach are requested to attend. Labour Day Holiday
Few special, sporting" activities for Labour Day have been organised this year in Opunake, but most clubs will be active in some way and many residents have made arrangements to make the make most of the full week-end. Will it rain on Labour Day—is however the "burning" question.
Butter Coupons valid longer. Butter Coupons for one fdurweekly period would be valid in the following period, the Minister of Supply, the Hon. A. H. Nordmeyer, said at Auckland on Monday. This arrangement to overcome hardship would apply to the new issue only. Butter quotas to manufacturers and cafeterias would be issued on the same basis as previously.
