EARLY SETTLER’S DEATH

MRS. MARGARET ALLAN PIHAMA RESIDENT One of the early settlers in Pill ama, Mrs- Margaret Allan, aged 89, has died. She was born in County Derry, Ireland, and arrived in New Zealand by the sailing ship Yictory in 1884. . She married Mr. Andrew Allan at Palmerston North and came to Pihama with her husband to take up a farm in its original state of fern and flax.

Her husband, her sou Andrew and her daughter Jane predeceased her. ,

There was a large cortege to the Pihama cemetery where the Rev. W. Berry conductor' the service. The pall-bearers were Messrs. W- M. Allan, J- A. Stevenson, L. M. Gopperth, D. M. Holmes, j. A. Pettigrew and W. H. Cor kill. .
