KEEN COMPETITION WEATHER. UNF A YOUR ABLE Although tlie strong wind made conditions unsuitable for basketball on Saturday, most sanies were interesting and keen, the two series being completed. Opunake, with 14 points form Kowhai 10 and Rahotu 9 should ■win the Senior B competition, but the Junior series is most interesting with only 2 points separating - 5 teams. Pihama 14, leads from OD.H.S. A, River lea, Puuiho and Convent 12 each. Results were ; Senior B Kaponga Convent 6 drew with Rahotu G; Opunake 13 beat O.D.H.S. 2; Kowhai 9 beat Pungarehu 7; Kowhai G beat 0.D.H.S. 4- Rahotu 9 beat Pungarehu 4: Opunake 14 beat Kaponga Convent 3Juniors Pihama 14 beat Rahotu 2; Auroa 11 beat O.D-H.S. B 6; O.D.H.S. A 12 beat Awatuna 4; Convent 13 beat Oaonui 3; Te Kiri defaulted to Riverlea; Opunake defaulted to Puniho; Convent 10 v. Awatuna 4Rahotu 4 v. Oaonui 2; Riverlea 10 v. O D.H.S. B 2; 0.D.-H-S. A 10 v. Auroa 5; Pihama 11 v. Pimilio: 8. Taranaki Basketball Reps. The Taranaki Basketball Representative’ team to play in the Dominion basketball tournament at Dunedin next month has been selected, but no coastal players were chosen. In the B team wrich will play Wellington at Opunake probablv early in August, P- Malone (Riverlea) is the only coastal representative, while R. Horo (Oonnake) will play for Taranaki thirds against Manawatu at Palmerston North on Saturday.
