FOOD FOR SMETHWICK

LAST MONTH OF YEAR BIG EFFORT URGED The U.S.A.’s food for Smethcick scheme, which has operated so successfully for the past twenty-three months, with the whole-hearted co-operation and generosity of district residents and members, will close its second year this month when the March distribution of food parcels will be packed and despatched next Tuesday by members o? the Women’s Auxiliary. In the past year 514 parcels were sent overseas, a ready great effort, and for the eleven mouths of this year 430 parcels have been despatched. The Opunake District ITS. A. executive,, in again expressing sincere thanks to all for the unfailing support accorded the scheme, makes a further appeal for a bumper parcel month in order that the target of 500, at least, is again achieved. Donors of parcels or tinned _ food may leave their contributions at the drill hall next Tuesday after ■> p.m.
