ENGINEER’S REPORT GENERATION INCREASE The Engineer, Mr. W. M- E. Mirams reported for November as follows —- Bulk Supply The generating plant lias oderated satisfactorily during the month, the only shutdown being for a period of -3] hours on the 14th, due to a low lake level. The units generated by \he hydro plant were 101,855, which is an increase of 57,378 units over the corresponding oeriod for the last year. In addition, a further 2,545 units were generated by the diesel set for a consumption of 233 gallons of fuel oil. This makes a total of 104,400 units generated. Units purchased at Te Kiri amounted to 021,240, making a total for units generated and purchased, of 785,640, which is an'increase of 33,205 units or 4-4 per cent above the total for November last year; however, this represents 3.9 per cent below the allocation for the month- The hulk supply at Te Kiri was satisfactory. D&trita'PJon arid Maintenance The lower Puniho 6.6 K.V. extension has been completed and livened. One additional transformer was required. Four (temporarily converted 0-6 K.Vtransformers used at 11- K.V. were replaced by 11 K.V. transformers. This leaves one converted transformer to be replaced. 12 service lines have been elected. In addition a number o* service alterations and minor line replacements and repalirs weic carried out. arad I nspsQticns These have been exceptionally heavy, the net increase in connected load 'being 223 K-W., which is a record for one month. Details are as follows: New consumers, 7; New installations, 12; Additions to installations, 51; Alterations lo installations, 1; No. of light points, 83• No. of heal points, 68; No. of ranges. 7; Domestic waterheaters, 7; Milking motors, 2; Milking motors changed, 5; Pump motors 1 installed, 4; Pump motors changed, 1 ; Shearing motors installes, 5; Industrial motors installed, 2; Commercial motors installed, 1 ; Condensers installed, 7; Radios, 15; Washers, 10; Rangettes, 8; Refrigerators, 5; Wash boilers, 3. 58 permits for new wiring work were issued and 91 inspections were carried out- r 37 meters were tested, 42 meters were installed and 13 meters edhousing The garage and taukstand for No. 1 prefabricated house were erected- Field drains were laid for overflow from the tank and garage. Buildings are now completed with the exception of the tile roof on tire garage. Staff • Mr. Wilkinson, who has been off sick for some,, weeks, is expected to resume his duties sometime next week. John Chambers, a Canterbury College student, started during the month on practical work ’owards his degree. An application for the position of Inspector-troubleman has been received from a very suitable man who has been offered this positionTransport As it now seems very probable that the Board will shortly have this additional inspectortroubleman, the question q| Hie purchase of an additional truck must be considered. Mr. Mirams also extended seasonal greetings on. behalf of himself and the outside staff.
