PRIMARY SCHOOL CONCERT
SPLENDID SUCCESS
KIDDIES OUTSTANDING
No programme has generally pleased an audience more in the past 12 months than that which was presented hy Opunake Primary school pupils in tlie Dn.l Hall on Tuesday evening, J:e occasion of- their Annual (we hope) concert, and the pleasure gained was By no means entirely due to the enjoyment always derived from watching kiddies perform—individually and collectively the children were splendidly natural and unaffected and like'all good performers, obviously enjoyed their parts -..s much as anyone in the laroe audience.
The settings, too, and the -intention to costume detail and tie really excellent variety introduced in the programme were distinctly creditable, and it may truthfully he said that few audiences have laughed so "genuinely" or applauded more sincerely in Opunake for many months. i
We could pick individuals and individual items buT the performances were all so uniformly good it would be unfair, and so we can only heartily congratulate each and every; child' and the school staff, particularly Miss Coleman, for a great effort. .Mr- H. E. Collins, chairman of the school committee,- heartily thanked the children and staff and the Mr- F. J. McLaughlin also endorsed his remarks. He announced with regret that Miss Coleman hud tendered her resignation and when called to the front of tn.e stage Miss Coleman was given a great ovation accompanied by musical honours, a direct tribute to her personality and popularity as a teacher.
