BOROUGH WORKS
OUTSIDE STAFF REPORTS FOR SEPTEMBER The following reports wece submitted at Tuesday's Boio-ilJi Council' meeting : Inspectors Report (Mr. S. C. Orams) Drainage and Plumbing: Set out 1; Approved 9, including 5 State Houses. Samples: Milk 2, AVater 2, from proposed Borough Supply. Housing: 2. Refuse and Nightsoil Disposal: 2. Eoodshops: 7, all reasonably satisfactory. The experiment in composting the town nightsoil appears to be a step in the right direction, and when inspected seemed quite a reasonable method of disposal. The disposal of refuse over the cliff provides an excellent breeding ground for rats whicli were present, in large numbers. The size of your borough precludes any extensive or expensive system of rat prevention, but I 'feel that some measures should be taken by poisoning, or similar control, to restrict this nuisance.— (Po[isonir(g already attended to.)
