AMBULANCE SCHEME
SUB-COMMITTEE ENQUIRY CONVERTED CAR At a recent meeting of the Ambulance Sub-Committee of the St. John Ambulance Association, Opunake Sub-Centre, the Chairman of the Committee Mr. Yi. H. Hughson and Mr. R. 13. Crake reviewed the progress made to date in obtaining" vn ambulance for Opunake and district.. It would appear that the original scheme of obtaining a fully equipped ambulance to be stationed at Opunake is going to cost more than is warranted. A new ambulance costs approximately £ISOO plus stretchers-and equipment and it is proposed io investigate a cheaper scheme, of buying a new car which will be fitted with a rear door, a portion of the rear seat removed and rails installed to take a full size stretcher. Lockers will also be fitted to accomodate all necessary equipment usually carried in an ambulance. The Sub-committee is now making inquiries' as to the most suitable car and possible date of delivery. It is expected that the cost of a car - equipped as required would be up to £9OO.
