OPUNAKE BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING Mrs, Dowman presided over a good attendance at the August Meeting of the Opuuake Branch of the W.D.F.F.. Apologies were received from Mesdames S. Hickey, -I. Stevenson, D. Holmes, T. N. Watt. W. Allan and W. Bevan. A welcome was extended to Mrs. Lewis, a new member and lo Miss Drake, a visitor from Manawatu. Sympathy was expressed with Mrs. C. King, who is ill, and with Mrs. Eustace, whose son is in hospital. It was icported that . the monthly 221 b. food parcel had been forwarded to Britain, and arrangements were made for the despatch of the next one. The President gave a very interesting and comprehensive icport on the recent Dominion Conference held at Dunedin.' Birthday greetings weie extended to Mesdames Bevan, A. Campbell. A. Petty, J. Stevenson and M. Harvey. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames J. O’Sullivan and G. Beylis. . ..

Competition results were: Camellia: Mrs. A. Petty and Mrs. M. Harvey equal Ist., Mrs. A. Allan 2nd., Mrs. Julian and Mrs. FauT equal 3rd.

Best Bloom: Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Allan equal Ist., Mrs. Toslend 2nd., Mrs. Petty and Miss Hurst equal 3rd.

CONFERENCE REPORT The August meeting was presided over by Mrs. White. A new member, Mrs. H. Field W£is enrolled during the,month. An interesting review of the Conference was given by Mrs, White the branch’s delegate to the Dunedin Conference. A reporton the provincial executive was also given by Mrs. White.. Letters of thanks for food parcels received in Britain, forwarded hv Mrs. G. Lusk, were read. Recipients of birthday sprays were Mesdames Gilberd and C. Pentelow. Winners of Competitions are as follows: Hostess Competition, Mrs. White; Wandering Shilling, Mrs. Knofflock; Re-knitted Garment, Mrs. White and Mrs. K, Young equal Ist., Mrs. Knofflock 2n’., Mrs. E. Clegg 3rd; Rest Bloom, Mrs. 0. Pentelow Ist., Mrs. Tilly 2nd., Mrs. C, Strong 3rd; Best- Shrub, Mrs. .1. Stronge Ist., Mrs. Sargent 2nd., Mrs. Gibson 3rd. Hostesses were Mesdames I. Crawford, E. Knofflock and G. McQuaig.
