ENGINEER'S REPORT MONTH OF JULY The County Engineer, Mr. R. S. Martin, submitted the following report for July: Construction Watino Culvert: I interviewed the Resident Engineer as instructed re this work and after consideration he declined to allow a smaller pipe than 48 inches for this woj'k. He suggested the Council give consideration to the completion of the work as originally proposed. (It was considered that a greater sugsidy would be agreed to, and the council decided to make application on these lines). In the meantime the necessary pipes are being held by the Hume Pipe Company who desire a decision as to whether or not the Council will acquire same. (Purchase Approved). H ighways M ai ntenance Opunake Rawhitiroa, Rahotu Kahui, Ihaia Road, Skeet Road: Watertables and outlets have been cleaned, shoulders attended to, some metal lengths graded, and crushed metal run out wheie necessary. Riding Maintenance) General maintenance was carried out on most roads in each riding and grading was attended to where necessary. Scaling Experiment The Council's instructions noted.
