Cement Released on Permit. An announcement of importance to local residents is the release of cement on permit for Paths, Walls, etc. Hughson’s Ltd. advertise that full stocks are available with the necessary permits. r Election Meeting. Members, friends and supporters of tbe Opunake Junior Chamber’s Borough Election Candidates are reminded that a meeting will be held in the Drill Hall at 8 p.m. next Tuesday, when the candidates will expound their 12 point policy. Big Crayfish Catches. Local residents have enjoyed big bawls of crayfish in recent weeks, in some cases up to 500. The Pihama ground and the local area have both provided successful catches and very few homes in Opunake have not been able to boast a crayfish dinner at least once in the past few weeks. Clothing Appeal. Pesidents of the district are reminded that the Opunake Red Cross Society has appealed for warm, clean clothing for children up to the age of 2 years (Babies wear specially requested) for forwarding to babies in Britain through the British Red Cross, and it is emphasised that all clothing should be sent to the President or Secretary before next Wednesday, ' November 12 th.

One Opunake hoy, although forbidden to visit the circus on Monday afternoon after school-, could not resist the temptation. He was told that he would have to choose between a hiding or staying away from the evening performance. Yes, you’re right—be chose the hiding' ! Farmers’ Field Days. Fanners’ field days at Massey Agricultural College, which Avere well attended on their institution last autumn, will be held as folloAVs in 1048:—April 21 (Wednesday), May 10 (Wednesday), July T (Wednesday). On each dale there will he separate programmes for sheep farmers, dairy farmers and noun fry women, Field days will -commence at 10.80 a.in. and hot water will he provided for lunches brought by visitors. The first of the dairy farmers’ meetings, extending over probably three ecnsecutiVe days, will he held about middune. Fills meeting will he on lines similar to the annual meetings of sheep farmers.
