GUY FAWKE’S NIGHT

BEACH BONFIRE KIDDIES’ BIG WEEK Owing to the interventiqn_of the war, many kiddies celebrated Guy Fawke’s Day for the first time in their lives and with a circus thrown in for good measure the week should long live in the memory of many district youngsters. Shackholders at the Beach organised a big bonfire and .it acted as a magnet for young and old, quite a large crowd of.beach and town , residents attending. If could not be said that the fireworks were up to the standard or of such variety as in pre-war days, but the display nevertheless was very effective, with sky rockets, Roman candles, the popular crackers and bang bangs. The kiddies certainly enjoyed it. Bonfires could also be seen in other parts of the town. State lioii.se tenants arranged a creditable bonfire at the rear of the Post Office to the great enjoyment of their children. /
