SMETHWICK LETTER

ANOTHER APPRECIATION NEED FOR FATS The value of food parcels., to tlie people of Britain is borne put in a furTKer letter received from Smethwick. " , " The letter reads: I expect you will be surprised to get this letter but I thought it only right to let you . know that your food parcels are being allocated to those for whom......they were intended. It was a, very great surprise to us that my husband was nominated by. the British Legion, and I can assure you that the contents were just what we most needed. My husband was wounded during the 1918 war, and our eldest boy in the last war and i neither of them have, been-able to work for the last 9 months. The boy is now at a training school, be was a fitter, but owing to a leg injury he cannot stand long,, and the Government is training him for another trade. My husband was wounded in the back, and he suffers from, neuritis; now. our / .iingest boy has answered the call for 2 years compulsory training, . so' you see we are a family of "old soldiers." We are not among those who grumble at our country's misfortunes, but we are very grateful for the little extras which you have sent, especially the fat. Our ration of this is very small. May I wish you all,'prosperity and good health as yo a return to your civilian life, and say God bless you for your kind, thoughts." Yours' Gratefully, ' .(Mrs.) K. Hickling.
