EDUCATION BOARD'S VISIT
MEETING WITH COMMITTEE ACCOMMODATION PROBLEM The Taranaki Education Board together with the Board's architect, Mr. M. G. B. Harvey, paid a visit to Opunake yesterday and made a thorough inspection oi the school buildings and grounds and temporary classroom accommodation. A meeting with the local committee look place in the after j noon and a very frank discussion followed. The proposed plans for the entirely new school block, allowing for the incorporation of an assembly hall, and for anticipated future additions consistent with the growth of the school were placed before the committee and met with their full approval and commendation. The chairman, Mr. H. Shields, Mrs. Wright and Messrs. J. S. Hickey and R. S. .Martin all emphasised the extreme .urgency of erecting temporary classroom and lavatory accommodation immediately. The chairman of the Board, Mr. W. H. Jones following the discussion, (which was taken in committee), gave the committee an assurance that the removal and re-erection of the Tuna Road school at Opunake together with the erection of adequate lavatory accommodation would be proceeded with immediately. Mr. Jones also intimated that two more, classrooms would be added to the Primary open-air block, and although no guarantee could be given it was hoped that they would be completed before Christmas. Mr. Shields thanked the Board on behalf of the committee.
