AUGUST MEETING CONFERENCE REPORT Mrs. J. Starck presided over an attendance of 29 members at the August meeting. Apologies were received from the presi-r dent Mrs. R. Julian, Mrs. T. N. Watt and Mrs. Cathie. A .welcome was extended to Mrs. Humphries and Mrs. Baylis. A motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mrs. Emma Julian, one of the foundation members of the Opunake Branch of the Women's Division was expressed by the members. It was reported that the monthly 221 b food parcel had been sent to Britain and arrangements were made for the dispatch of the next one. The members decided to take advantage of the Sarah Anne Rhodes Scholarship, and have a tutor to visit the district during 1948. Mrs. Dowman reported on the executive meeting held on August sth. A combined street mart with the Oaonui branch for the Corso appeal "Aid to China," was arranged for August 25th. Mrs. H. Tosland, the president of the South Taranaki Provincial Executive attended \ the meeting and gave an interesting report on the Dominion Conference. Mrs. Starck thanked Mrs. Tosland on behalf of the members. Competition results were: Canielia: Mrs. Allan Ist., Mrs. Julian 2nd., Mrs. Petty 3rd. Best Bloom: Mrs. Allan Ist., Mrs. Holmes 2nd., Mesdames Petty and Julian 3rd.
