OBITUARY
MRS. MINNIE MAY POTTS
The death of Mrs, Minnie May Potts at her residence, Gisborne Terrace, Opnnake, on Wednesday removes yet another wellknown and respected resident from our midst. Born in 1884, Mrs. Potts was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Rogers of Wanganui and formerly of Stratford, Mrs. Potts with her husband and family lived in Stratford until 1937 when they moved to Opnnake. Mrs. Potts was a keen member of the Opnnake Red Cross, the Presbyterian ladies’. Guild and the Women’s Institute until she was forced to relinquish her association with these organisations about 2 years ago through ill health. A keen patriotic worker during the second world war Mrs. Potts had five sons in the forces, four serving overseas, one being a prisoner of ’ war i for. years. The funeral which took place at Stratford on Thursday was attended by a large number of relatives and friends, and many floral tributes were placed on the grave. Rev. W. J. Berry conducted the service at , the residence and the graveside. Theypall bearers were Mrs. Potts’ four sons Jack, v ßert, Ron and Gordon, and two son-in-laws, Messrs. Lyndon and Caldwell. Mrs. Potts is survived by her husband, and five sons, Jack (Gisborne), Bert and Ron (Stratford), Gordon and Allan (Opunake) and two daughters Mrs. J. Lyndon (Lowgarth) and Mrs. C. Coldwell (Stratford). Another son, the late Clem Potts died in Aew Zealand in 1944 after returning from overseas. There are 10 grandchildren.
