FAREWELL SOCIAL (By own Correspondent) A Social and Dance was held 'in the Oaonui Hall on Monday evening to farewell Mr. and Mrs. Mick Barrett, who have resided en the Kina Road for the past 45 years. A large crowd attended and enjoyed dancing *-to excellent music by Smith's Orchestra. Songs were rendered by Mrs. S. M* Coombe accompanied by Mrs. L. A. Young-. A Monte Carlo was won by Mrs. Tim Barrett and Mrs. Ted Morrow. Extras were :played by Mrs. J. Bishop, Miss Claudia Barriball, Miss Gilhooly and Mr. L. A. Bosworth. Euchre 'prizes were "won by Mrs. Gilhooly and Mr. H. Simpson. Mr. iS. M. Coombe presented the guests of the evening with a pair of Fireside Chairs. Mr. E. Baylis spoke on behalf of the Oaonui Dairy Factory. The opportunity was also taken to fare' well Mr. and Mrs. Pat Briscoe who are leaving for Auckland shortly. Thev were asked'to accept a travelling case and a shaving cabinet. Musical honors were accorded the guests of the evening and Mr. Barrett and Mr. Briscoe suitably responded. EUCHRE AND DANCE ; IN AID OF PA FUNDS A Euchre and dance, in aid of ihe Potaka Pa funds was held in the Oaonui Hall last Tuesday evening, and proved a most enjoy {■.Lie evening. The euchre tournament drew a large number of players, the rnize winners being : Ladies, Mrs. J. Dalton 1. Mrs. J. Okeroa 2: Men, J. Tito 1, G. Horo 2. A-mystery train Foxtrot was won by Mrs. B. Eobinson and partner, and a Spot Waltz by T. R.otahi and partner. The Monte Carlo Sweepstake was won by Jv. Hill and partner. Music was supplied by I. Bishop's Dance Band: A very tasty supper was served bv the committee members and • the evening ended a little after midnight. The M.C. was Mr. I. Bishop. Mr. Tim Ellis is an inmate of 'the New Plymouth Hospital. Mr. L. A. McKoy, Wh'akatane, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Coombe. Mrm. Dan Quickenden and Mrs. Back, Patea, have been visiting Oaonui.
