"How long, may I as'--," he said, "have you been adicated to the pernicious habit of <moking?" The bus-driver's eyes twinkled. "Well, if it'll cheer you up to know, guv'ner, say thirty years." "And the cost?" "Two bob a week." "Tut! tut! A shocking waste of money! Is it worth it, my friend?" '"Every blooming copper of it, guv'ner. Gotta match?" The stranger 1 groaned. Everybody else laughed. These anti-tobacs mean well —perhaps. But smoking's not a crime. It gives joy to millions every day, and won't do anybody a ha'porth of harm so long as they avoid brands reeking with nicotine, as unfortunately so many brands are. The safe way is to smoke "toasted." Toasting kills the nicotine and leaves the baccy cool, sweet and fragrant. The five (and only genuine) toasted brands, Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog), Cavendish, Eiverhead Gold and Desert Gold, are the puiest and most wholesome tobaccos manufactureed the world over.
