OPUNAKE RED CROSS

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Opium ke Red Cross was held at the Red Cross Depot on Tuesday September 9, when Mrs. Matt presided over a good attendance. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Jenkin, Burton, Shields and J. S. Hickcv.

The action of the executive in ordering 4 wooden forms for the rooms was approved by the meeting. Several accounts were passed fn/r payment and the monthly balance sheet was presented bv the treasurer, Miss M. Mcßeynolds. It was decided to order a cupboard for the rooms and also procure boxes for storing article*.

Mrs. Watt reported that Mrs. Hunt and Miss Bryant (Lady Superintendent and Centre Commandant) far South Taranaki were to visit 0 pun ahe A oluntarv aids on Thursday evening and the Committee were invited to he present. Mrs. Watt proposed and it was carried these delegates’ expenses he paid by the local Committee. A church parade had been held by Ihe Y.A’s on September 8 when T Opunake V.A’s paraded at St. Barnabas’ Church. Home Nursing lectures had now concluded and the oral and nraetieal examination would be held at the rooms on Saturday, September 13. M'»s. Parkes read n, report on the Centre Meeting held at Stratford on August 21.

Gifts for the Christmas parcel for nurses overseas .were brought to the meeting. These comprised; Towels, limn bags, soaps, talc powders, stationery, cloves, mittins. scarves and \v o ol hats. These are to be sent a wav early next week and will be sent to the matron in . barge, Miss Nutsev.

A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Alan Waterhouse for the o-iff of a large table, enamelled cream, which was for the rooms. Also to the Opunake Patriotic Committee for the use of the Amusement Parlour on Fridav September 6.
