Football Competition.— Prizes in the Opunake Surf Club s weekly football competition on Saturday went to Miss Peggy Richards'. Miss Pat Hickey and Mr. J. Aep. Tukapa anc Star were the highest-scoring teams in Saturday’s series, account.ing for 47 points between them.
Amateur Productions.— Rehearsals lor th.e forthcoming presentation ol one-act plays in aid ol the Opunake Tenuis Club are now proceeding in lull earnest as the date oi production draws near. Casting has now been completed, and the work ol production is w ell under way. While many ol the performers will be newcomers to the amateur stage, some real talent has been revealed among those wlio have offered their services and it is expected that a high standard will be reached.
Presbyterian Missions.— Til© Rev. J. M. McKenzie preached at Presbyterian Church services at. Awatuna and Opunake on Sunday last to large congregations. His addresses covered the Missionary field of the Church’s, obligations, and out of Ids wide experience, lie gave first-hand information of its Problems and successes. On Wednesday evening at Awatuna he will give lantern views of the work, and also at Opunake on Thursday evening at 7.30 o’clock. All interested in this work can be assured of a rare treat.
