GARDEN PARTY

FOR W.D.F.U. FUNDS A SPLENDID SUCCESS Visitors from as far afield as Puniho were present at the garden party organised by the Qpunuke branch of. the Women's Division and held in the grounds of Mrs. D. Mourie's residence on Wednesday. The_ _ attendance numbered in the vicinity of 100 persons, nnd the event was particularly successful. With Mrs. Mourie's gardens looking at the best in fine conditions, it could hardly have failed to attract interest, and the division is. to be complimented on its success. The begonias in the floral display claimed most attention, but ; 1 11 ;-nU nf Ihe garden came in for admiring comment. Those in charge of the stall, Mrs. J. Mildcuhall and Mrs. F. Julian, reported excellent business, and the competitions organised by Mrs. A. W. Wan and Mrs. C. R. Julian, also were well patronised. Miss Geary was the winner of a box of tea donated hv Mrs. Mourie for competition, and also annexed the prize in a wall quoits contest. Winner of the lucky number competition was Mrs. H. Parkes. Several choice bulbs, donated by Mrs. Mourie for sale, met with a keen demand. Afternoon tea was dispensed by division members. At an appropriate stage, Mrs. W. A. Sheat, president of the branch, conveyed thanks to all who had had a part in making the effort so successful, and expressed the gratitude of the branch to Mrs. Mourie in particular for granting the use of her garden.
