Cricket Protest. —
Dificulty in reaching a decision on the reported facts of the case decided the executive of the South Taranaki Cricket Association last night to arrange a replay of the senior B contest between Opuuake and Stratford Tech., the local club having en tered a protest. The main point at issue was. whether, with Tech batting and requiring twelve runs with one wicket in hand, stumps were drawn when sul’tb--ient time remained for a further over. The executive, while refraining from making a decision which would affect the result. Indicated that it strongly disapproved of any deliberate attempt to waste time, which. U was alleged, had occurred.
Viracious bunched. With tho sweep round to the back negotiated, Professional took tin* lead, holding it into the straight, with Golden Orchid, Viracious and Wynardo still in tlm hunt, and Chat starting to make op ground. Professional was not troubled, and was three-quait-ers of a length in front of Chat at the finish, Golden Orchid Icing a neck behind the so* ynd horse, with "Karerenui. V■ . amons and Wynardo finishing i that order.
