BRING AND BUY PARTY HELD AT PIIIAMA On Wednesday afternoon the supper room of the Pihama Hall was artistically decorated with bowls of spring bulbs, violets, freesias, and Iceland poppies, and with rugs on the floor presented the air of a drawing room when the members of the Presbyterian Pihama Ladies Guild were hostesses at a .Bring and Buy party in honour of their first birthday. At one end of the room ou a table by itself was a beautiful cake made by Mrs Allan, junr., and iced by her daughter, Miss Margaret Allan, with one blue candle in the centre. This was later lit by Mrs Wood and the cake was duly cut and handed round.
A very enjoyable programme was given by friends from Opunake. Vocal solos by Mesdames o 'Sullivan, Trotter, and Weatherhead; violin solo by Mrs T. N. Watt, accompanied by Mrs O'Sullivan; vocal duet by Mesdames Trotter and Weatlierhead, humorous reading by Jlev. G. Wood. These items were interspersed with competitions and community singing. The winners of the competitions' wore Mrs Sheirt and Miss Holmes. Mrs T. N. Wall acted ;is accompaniste. A stall laden with vegetables, ecrgs, jams, sauces, beautiful flowers and a quantity of work did good business. An elaborate afternoon tea wn» served and much enjoyed by the Inro-r company present. Thp "Rev. G. Wood thanked all for their presence and help and paid a tribute to tbe six Indies who had done so much during the year.
