OEO HAPPENINGS SOCIAL AND DANCE A very large crowd attended the dance in the local hall on Thursday evening, under the auspices of the Ueo Hall Committee. Waites’ AdelphTa Dance Baud, from Stratford, made its first appearance in South Taranaki, and were assisted by Mr Stewart Gordon, the blind musician from Opunake. A competition for a cake donated by Mesdames Evans and Simpson, was won by Mr Jack Glengarry, the proceeds to be used in payment of Mr Gordon’s services. A number of novelty dances were held, adding much to the evening’s entertainment.
A farewell dance to Mr Stewart Gordon will be held in the local hall on February 15. Hay making operations, which were held up by the wet weather at Christmas time, are now nearing completion. Personal.
Mrs Haynes is at present on holiday. Mrs Masters has returned from W anganui. Mrs Bert Muggeridge has sufficiently recovered from her recent illness to return to her home.
TENNIS AT AUROA A PRESENTATION On Thursday evening, at a meeting of the local tennis club, Mr T. Bould, who has been a popular member and who has also igven valuable instruction on tennis play, was presented with a shaving outfit as a small token of appreciation and esteem from the club. In making the presentation, Mr Freyne referred to the valuable sendees rendered by the recipient and wished him every future success. Mr Bould suitably replied, and said that his stay in Auroa had been a very happy one. Mr Bould has been for sSine time working in the Toll dairy factory.
