OPUNAKE TIMES Speaks for the District. FRIDAY, FEB. 24, 1933. A PUBLIC CONCERN
It is gratifying to note that a number of local residents take an interest in the management of our public library. In these days .it is difficult to keep up to the highest standard local voluntary institutions. The local library is lidding is position and the public reading room is availed of by a large number of persons. We iwould like to impress on the users of such facilities that the public reading room is for their benefit and the responsibility for its care, and even maintenance, is an ordinary common civilian duty. The management committee intend holding a function at an early date to supplement funds for additional literature. We hope they will receive the support that is due. A town is generally “summed up” by its educational facilities and a public library comes under that category. "The of the library, it is hoped, will be freshened up by a coat of paint. A further reason for its preservation is that it is the last and only link between the old A.C. Force and the present generation. It was a portion of the old mess room.
