SWIMMING AT THE LAKE

WEDNESDAY'S HANDICAPS. The fifth club night will be held at the lake tomorrow, the first event commencing at 0.-J0 p.m. Interest will be very keen, especially in the men's events, owing to- the fact that several competitors are almost level in points gained in previous galas. Clare, Burton, Tito and .Webb are sure to put up a great fight for positions, a win at this stage for the first-named would probably put him in a very strong position, while the others would overhaul the points lead with a straight out victory. Handicaps are as follows: — Men's 50 yards' breaststroke: G. Harrison (scr), P. Smith (lsec), R. Tito (2sec), D. Burton (2sec), B. Dudley (osec), A. Sinclair (b\sec), S. Spiers ( : Jsec), J. Grech (3sec), S. McCullum (4 sec), W. Willis (4sec), M. Lee (4sec), S. Clare (4sec), J. Clouston (Tsec). Men's 25 yards' handicap: G. Harrison (scr), P. Smith (scr), R. Tito (scr), D. Burton (lsec), S. Spiers (lsec), B. Dudley (2 sec), A. Sinclair (2sec), S. McCullum (2sec), W. Willis (2sec), M. Lee (2sec), J. Grech (2sec), S. Clare (-3sec), J. Clouston (5 sec).

Ladies' novelty race. Quite a number of novelty events are on the programme, all of which will prove interesting to the public who are cordially invited to be present. Two ladies' events should draw a good entry, their performances at previous galas showing that with a little coaching, (lie local swimming girls should do well at outside carnivals.
