POISON BANDS FOR MOTHS
Chemically-treated bands, placed around trees are credited with destroying between 17,000,000 and 18,000,000 codling moths that otherwise would be infesting Illinois orchards this year. M. D. Farrar of the State Natural History Survey, calls this comparatively new method the greatest advance in controlling the moth that has been made in five years. Spraying alone, he says, will not give complete control in heavily infested orchards.
