HIS BELIEF WAS CURE

GREEK PRAYED FOR LEC. "God still lives," said Captain Bertram, the German flier, when rescued; and that is what a young Perth Greek, Laurie Hellades, says too, says a Perth paper. His prayers, he says, have cured the leg he thought incurahle. Eighteen months ago Laurie Hilliades was severely injured in the knee and lower leg„ Despite the best medical attention, the leg refused to respond to treatment, and the knee joint stiffened so much that it would not bend at all. The young Greek, a staunch member of the' Greek Orthodox Church devoted 'himself to prayer and pious reflections in church and at home. But believing in the principle that God helps those who help themselves he made use of massage and other methods to aid his faith. Gradually the knee improved and now is nearly cured. Helliades commissioned a jeweller to fashion a silver leg, which he has attached to the crucifix on the high alter at the Greek Orthodox Church. It bears this inscription;— ''Presented by Laurie Helliades as a token of thanksgiving to the Lord in enabling him to regain the freedom of his leg."
