OBITUARY.

MRS. E. G. HOLMES. The sad news of the death of Mrs. E. G. Holmes, a highly respected resident of the Opunake district, came with startling suddenness to a very wide circle of friends. The deceased, who had suffered slightly from indifferent health for several months, showed signs recently of making steady progress towards complete recovery, but following a sudden illness on Wednesday, she passed away at the early age of 34 years on Thursday morning. Mrs. Holmes was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Handy Sutton who were well-known in this district. 'Other members of the family being Mrs. J. Hewson, Waiteika Road; Mrs. W. Waswo, Rahotu and Mr. Marcus Sutton of Kaponga. A widower and five young children, three boys and two girls, are left to mourn their great loss. Tlite' widespread sympathy of district residents will go out to the bereaved family in their time of sorrow.
