. Mr. H. Leslie Piper, the famous Australian baritone, is at preseni in Opunake. Mr. A. A. Fisher, who has been holidaying in Australia, returned tc Opunake on Wednesday. Master Doug. Burton was admitted to the New Plymouth Hospital yesterday and he will undergo an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Geof. Fearer, who underwent a serious operation at New Plymouth Hospital on Tuesday, is progressing satisfactorily. Probate has been granted of the will of the late Mr. William M’Leod, of the “Bulletin” newspaper the net value of which was £231.061. Masters M. Brennan and J Leahy, students at St. Patrick’s College, Wellington, are spending the vacation at their homes in Opu-
nalte. The funeral of Hie late Mrs. Aylward took place at Okato on Tuesday, a large number attending to pay their last tiibute of respect The llev. Father Kennedy officiated at the Church and graveside. The induction of the new vicar (the Rev. A. J. Farnell) by the Ven Archdeacon Creed-Meredith, of Wanganui, will take place at St. Barnabas Church this evening and will be followed by a welcome social.
‘The- late Mr. Alexander Cook, who died at Palmerston North on Tuesday after a brief illness, aged 53 years, was well and favourably known in Opunake and district, having been inspector of stock her© for some years.
