TITLES.
Some considerable discussion has taken place lately on the question of granting titles to distinguished persons. People who consider themselves democrats will have none of certain titles but have no objection to others.' ''Sir William Massey " would offend, them tremendously, but they see nothing wrong in "The Right Honorable W. F. Massey. " Probably if we came to analyse our feelings it is that the innate honesty of the people protests against unworthy people being decorated with a spurious glamor to which on their merits they are not entitled. For anyone to loudly proclaim as an honest man one who is a rogue and a vagabond's offensive to our sense of jnstice and to give a. title to some wealthy bounder ii likewise offensive to our better.:- nature. All sorts of titles will probably die out as tima goes on and as education causes all people to realise more fully that the best title we can give to any ma.i is to say that he is honorable and true. .
