(Own Correspondent.) The concert in connection with the school took place on Tuesday evening, and was very successful, about £5 10s being taken. The following programme was gone through : Overture. Mrs Foston and Miss A. Hughson; song, “ Little 80-peep,” junior pupils ; recitation, “ Seven Days,” seven girls; phonograph selection, Mr Groom, jun.; dialogue, “ Bashful John,” two boys and three girls ; soug, “ Jack’s the Boy,” pupils; drill (Indian clubs), four pupiW; song, “ The Rooster,” pupils ; drill (dumb bells), pupils ; song, “ Nigger Boys,” tenpupils; song, “Robinson Crusoe," pupils; dialogue, “ Jemima’s Discovery,” two boys aud two girls; tableau, “Good Night,” pupils ; instrumental selection, Miss A. Hughson (piano), Mrs Foston and Mr G. Hughson (violins); song, “ The Gladiator,” Mr Smith; soug, “Loch Lomond,” Mrs Wright; song, “ Anchored,” Mr Kelly; phonograph selections, Mr Groom ; song, “ Mary was a housemaid,” Mr Rea (encored); song, “ Never go there any more,” Mr Groom,; “God save the King.” Miss Dempsey taught the children their singing parts, whilst Mr Campbell, assisted by Mrs Campbell, attended to the other items connected with the children’s part. The accompaniments were played by Mr J. B. Knowles, and he also supplied the dance music. Mr W. Luxton acted as M.O. At the recent examination all the children were promoted except one, which speaks well for the teaching staff.

A good piece of road is being made through the township, and the blinding, which seems to be taking a fair amount of labor, should make it very solid.

The removal of the old buildings from the site opposite the hotel, makes it look very delapidated. That is the site reserved for the Post-office, and it would be a great benefit and improvement if a new one could be erected. It would not cost any more than paying rent for the building at present used as a post office.'
