Mr Nowton King's Y/eekly Report. Oq Saturday last, owing to the very wet morning, there was little auction business transacted. At the mart ducks made 2s, hens Is 6d to 2s 3u, roosters Is 9d to 3s 6d. Furniture and sundries made low prices. Ou Thursday I held a clearing sale of furniture acid stock at Smart Road on accouut of Mrs Helsop. There was a good a'taniiance and bargains were nuintreus. The cow realised £4 to £8 7s 6d.
Cattle.—The continued spell cf general spring weather, combinded with tbe prospect of excellent prices for dairy produce, has had an appreciable effect both upon dairy and store cattle, especially tbe first-named class, cowa near profit being eagerly competed for at increased prices. The improvement upon store cattle has not been so marked, but the last week has seen a steady and improved demand for all young cattle of good quality and condition.
At Waiwakaiho on Tuesday there was a good yarding of stock and all young cattle were well competed for, nearly every line being sold either at the hammer or privately. Grown steers did not share the improved inquiry, and were very difficult to quit. Calves made 9s to 235, yearlings 25s to 345, 18 months steers 395, 2 to 2£ year do. £2 17s 6d, springing heifers £4 Is, springing cows £4 10s to £5 7s 6d, store cows' £1 to £2 ss. At Stratford on Tuesday I hold a clearing sale on account of Mr Law. The oows were a nice lot and sold well. Early calvers made £6 10s to £9 10s, October calvers £5 5s to £8 10s, late calvers £2 to £3 15s, sows in milk £5 15s to £lO, beifers £2 15s to £5 10s, bulls £2 10a to £3, 18 months heifers 30s, calves 12s, yearlings 22s 6d. Sundries made low prices. At Stony River on Wednesday the yard was full, and nearly everything sold at the hammer or privately. Calves made 19s 6d to 295, good yearlings 28s 6d to 44s 6d, empty heifers £2 12s 6d, springing heifers £3 10s to £4 10s, store cows £1 to £3 6s.
I have to report having negotiated the following sales of property :—Mr 0. Brooking's farm of 297 acres situated near Kaponga, to Dr Noonan and W. Gruar, of Manaia, at a satisfactory price; 82 acres freehold at Warea, on account of Mr P. Murphy, to Mr James Miller, of Warea Road ; 89 acres, of behalf of same vendor, to Mr Wm. Eevell, of Warea; Mr P. L. Black's fine farm of 150 acres at Urenui, to Messrs Riley Bros., of Urenui; and Mr J. Gordon Glassford's farm of 200 acres, near Inglewood to Mr Wm. Williams, of Hill Road, New Plymouth.
