NEW ZEALAND LOAN AND MERCANTILE. WEEKLY MARKET REPORT. Auckland, September 6. Horses : At the Durham Yards on Friday, we had an average yarding of horses, the demand being good throughout. We quote : Heavy draughts sold at from £3l to £4O 15s; medium do. £lB 10s to £29 ; light harness, £7 10s to £2l Os ; hacks, £5 5s to £22 ; weeds, £2 10s to £B. Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday dairy and store stock were penned in average numbers and sold at late rates. Ox beef sold up to 24s and cow 17s to 20s per 1001 b ; steers sold at from £6 10s to £lO 17s 6d; cows, £4 10s to £7 10s Od ; dairy cows sold at from £4 10s to £8 10s ; empty do., £1 15s to £3 10s Od ; calves £1 Is to £2 Bs. Sheep were yarded in average numbers at the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, and competition was fairly keen. Wethers sold at from 19s 9d to £1 13s Od ; ewes ! l7s 9d to £1 11s 9d. Hoggets sold at from 10s 6d to £1 2s. Pigs : Porkers sold at from 17s 6d to £2 4' Od ; weaners, 6s 6d to 16s 9d ; baconers, £2 Is to £3 12s. Potatoes : Worth £l3 Os and are on the advance. Chaff : Worth £5 to £5 15s. Oats : 2s T£d, c.i.f. Butter. Market very firm. Prime separator, 9d to lid; good lOd ; poorer qualities, 7^d, Mr Newton King’s Weekly Report. At the Mart there was only a small entry of poultry, but prices were good. Hens made Is 4d to Is 9d, pullets Is 7d to 2s 4d, cockerels Is 6d, to ss, ducks 2s 2d. A quantity of furniture and fancy goods was disposed of at low prices. Frbit.—Prices during the week were as follows; —Apples 10s, oranges 5s to 7s 6d, lemons 6s to 7s, bananas 2d, brocolli 6s. Cattle.—At Warea on Monday there was a good attendance at Mr P. Murphy’s clearing sale, and excellent prices were realised for the whole dairy. Springers made £6 10s to £8 10s, cows at profit £5 to £7, late calvers £4 to £6 16s, aged and store cows £2 to £3 10s, heifers in calf £8 12s 6d to £4 10s, bull £4 2s 6d, sow and litter £B, yearling to 2 year colts £8 10s to £9. At Stratford, on Tuesday, there was a fair muster of store stock and a large yarding of dairy cattle. Young cattle _of good quality and condition were in better demand, and sold at improved prices; low-conditioned and dirty coloured lots were almost unsaleable, Calves to yearlings made 24s 6d to 265, good yearlings 34s 6d to 87s 6d, yearling Jersey heifers 43s 6d, Holstein do. £2 2s, 18 months empty heifers 46s to 51s, fat cows £4 10s, store do. £1 to £2 Bs. Dairy eatfcle were keenly competed for and everything near calving sold at advanced rates. Springers made £7 to £9 10s, late calvers £4 to £6, springing heifers £4 5s to £6 ss. On Wednesday, at Midhirst, there was a good Attendance and excellent prices wr--. • Springers made £7 to £iu os, backward calvers £4 5s to £6 15s. Sundries and implements made fair prices. At Rahotu, on Thursday, there was a small yarding and attendance. Yearlings made 28s to 365, 12 to 15 months steers 425, springing heifers £4 12s 6d to £3 12s 6d.
