His stock have turned out well, and at the Mataura Show throe of his gets obtained the special prize for three of the best all round horses by the same sire ; whilst many of his stock have gained first prize ; and he is just the type of stallion to fill a required want, as he throws useful as well as fast stock. Enchanter’s Breeding is undeniable and both sides of his pedigree is studded with the brightest gems of the Stud Book and Turf Register. He is full brother to that well-known performer Crown Jewel, the winner of a very large number of races, including the" Wanganui Cup and Hawke’s Bay Cup ; also to Enchantress, winner of the Canterbury Oaks, and is also closely related to many of the bestknown winners of principal races on the New Zealand turf. Miranda was by Traducer (imp.), her dam, Belle of the Isle, by imp. Malton—Spray, by imp. Donizetti, out of Lady Ann, by imp. Whisker. Whisker was invincible on the turf in the early days in New South Wales. Miranda’s dam, Belle of the Isle, besides being a racehorse and a winner of the Canterbury Cup, produced amongst others that wonderful horse Templeton, whose deeds on the turf iu this colony will never be forgotten, and who won among other events the Canterbury Cup, Great Autumn Handicap, Auckland Cup, D.J.C. Handicap, Dunedin Cup (twice), Forbury Handicap. Spray, Belle of the Isle’s dam, left many winners, including Wetsail, winner of the Canterbury Cup two years in concession, and other events ; Scud, Spritsail, Storm Bird, Southern Chief, and others. Spritsail was the dam of British Lion (winner of the N.Z. Cup), Masthead, and several others.
