Parihaka Road Board.

The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Wednesday, 13th June, all the members bemg present with the exception of Mr Rothery. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr W. J. Murphy interviewed the Board re gravel taken from his land.—Agreed to pay 3d per yard. A letter was received from T. Julian re Mr Tobin digging a dangerous hole on Warea Road. Mr Lawn considered it was not dangerous, as it was on a hill, . Resolved, That the engineer inspect, and if dangerous, to attend to the matter. (Mo-Gloin-Phillips.) Mr Morris waited on the Board re proposed loan for Lower Waiteika Road, wishing the road to be carried through from Main South Road to Eltham Road. Resolved, That the clerk write to proposers of loan that the Board had decided to only half-rate section 39, as from Mr Morriss’ explanation it would be unfair to full rate it, as the gravel was not intended to come within three chains of that section, (McGloin— Wright.) ..... * Messrs McCullum and Binnie interviewed the Board re works on Upper Puniho Road. The engineer was instructed to inspect and report. . A letter was received from Mr Gians thanking the clerk for information supplied re Waiteika Road. Letter from Mr Ellman, asking to be allowed to connect his drain with the dram made by the Board on Kina Road. Permission granted subject to the pleasure of the Board. Mr O’Sullivan waited on the Board, asking that a further progress payment be mad« on his contract on the Kina Road.—£2o granted. Mr Macfie attended re works on Lower Arawhata Road.—The engineer to attend to the matter. , Tenders were received for 130 yards o* gravel on Kahui East Road: —G. Horo, 5a 6d yard ; G. Barr Brown, 4s (accepted). Mr Wilcock presented a petition from settlers on the Upper Arawhata Road, asking for a loan. After discussion it was decided to refer the petition back to the proposers for amendment, by deducting ficpt year’s interest from loan. (Wright—Lawn.) The clerk was instructed to take out summonses for unpaid rates immediately, Mr Harford was allowed a day’s pay for attending Board re culverts on his contract, (Lawn— Frethey.) _ The engineer was instructed to inspect rilniho, Burgess, Bayly, Pungarehu, Cape, Panhaka and Tipoka Roads, and report thereon at next meeting. (McGloin —Phillips.) _ The engineer was instructed to get dram cleared opposite Mr Chapman’s, on Kabul Road, and put two or three loads of gravel on Kahui East Road, opposite Mr Langman’s. , The engineer was authorised to expend £o on Ihaia and £5 on Namu Roads to the best advantage. (MoGloin-Wiloock.) Resolved, That the annual meeting be fur* ther adjourned to July 11th, (McGloin— Lawn.) The engineer was instructed to notify Mr J, Hickey to complete his contract on Kahui East Road by 30th instant, or the Board will complete it at his expense. (Frethey— Wright.) . The Board, as a whole, was to inspect MX Vincent’s contract on Kina Road on Saturday, 16th ; the clerk to notify Mr Vincent, (Frethey—Wright.) Resolved, That the agreement as drawn up between the engineer and the Board be approved of. Accounts to the amount of £225 2s lid were passed for payment, (Phillips— Frethey.) DOMAIN BOARD. Same members. Resolved, That Mr Phillips interview Mr Samuel, the Board’s solicitor, and endeavor to ascertain the correct position of the cemetery and other reserves. (McGloin —Wilcock.)
