Even if a door were put in the wall at the end it would be found moat convenient for utilising a temporary supper-room when erected.
The Rahotu Hall Committee request us to publish, that in consequence of delay in getling some of the books from Melbourne the operetta promised for next Friday has to be postponed till the 23th September. The Otago Daily Times states that the Rontgen rays have been put to practical use in Dunedin, At the hospital a few days ago a person presented himself for treatment for a mysterious pain in his ankle. According to a Vienna correspondent, " a healthy woman without a stomach is auother triumph of science worth mention, although the removal of that organ is nothing new. On February 24th a woman, aged C 6, who was suffering from cancer in the stomach, was operated on at a Vienna clinic hospital. It was necessary to remove the entire stomach, after which the oesophagus was joined to the duodenum without much tension, The operation lasted two and a quarter hours, and proved most successful. On April 14th the woman left the hospital cured, and has enjoyed excellent health ever since. Her appetite is very good, and she says she can now eat double as much as before. This operation was first performed by Professor Billroth at Vienna, but has since then been greatly perfected. His pupils, especially Dr Ritter von Hacker, Professor at Innsbruck, some years ago performed it on patients who are very well now.
