The War.
FIFRCE FIGHTING- IN SPAIN. AN AMERICAN OFFICER'S PROMPT ACTION SAVES MAh Y LIVES. It is greatly to be regretted that the Spaniards should have allowed their senses to become subservient to their anger. That such is the case is borne out by cables notifying that several cities have been placed‘under martial law. “ A Kingdom divided against itself cannot stand,” much less conquer its opponents. Particulars of the prompt action of United States Officer, Colonel P. A, Hoffman, which resulted in the saving of life, are just to hand. It appears that Colonel Hoffman, who now carries two bullets in his body, and had prior to the present war seen a great deal of hard service, gave his advice to all sufferers from indigestion to take Dr Williams’ Pink Pills for Pale People, to the use of which alone he attributed his general good health, and said he, “ they are a Godsend to all people, as they build up the system and help digestion.” The opinion was given by Colonel Hoffman immediately he had proved the value of Dr Williams’ Pink Pills in his own case, and their is no doubt that his advice promptly given has resulted in the saving of many valuable lives.
But for Dr Williams’ Pink Pills for Pale People, Mr David Robertson, of Byronslreet, Kew, Victoria, could not at the ripe age of 80 years have successfully resisted the effects of an 18 months’ war waged upon him by that dread enemy of peace and health — Rheumatism. He was attacked most virulently by rheumatism, first in the right knee, next in the left hip, and then in the shoulders, wrists, hand, knees, and legs. He was rendered entirely helpless. Every friend he had recommended different remedies in turn—sulphur, kerosene, outwardly and inwardly, citric acid, marsh mallow, fomentation, hotseabaths, several bottles of a largely-advertised cure for rheumatism, and other articles were all tried without the slightest, benefit accuring. Ultimately, Mr Robertson came to the conclusion that his ailments were incurable. A little while later, however, a friend induced him to try Dr Williams’ Pink Pills. He followed the directions carefully and patiently, and in about three weeks or a month after first taking them he noticed a considerable improvement in his condition ; he had then taken two boxes. He persevered with the remedy, and, liUle by little, his ailment gave him less and less trouble. He continued in this manner until he had taken 10 or 11 boxes, the time occupied being from six to seven months. At this stage every trace of rheumatism had left him, and he was absolutely and perfectly cured in every particular. He is now quite free from pain. Mr Robertson, in conclusion, said he had recommended Dr Williams’ Pink Pills to many ofhis friends, and they had received most beneficial results from their use. Pie was well known in the locality, and would certainly continue to recommend them. This case is one which amply demonstrates the marvellous curative properties of ibis universal medicine under the most adverse circumstances. If an old gentleman of 80 years of age can be cured of rheumatism, what may not be effected in those cases in whicli the sufferer is a much younger man or worn in ? The answer is too obvious to need insertion.
