Cinematograph and Phonograph.

Mr Montgomery, the well-known theatrical agent, who visited Qpunake last September, in advance of Messrs Tate, Beck, and Eitson's cinematographe, arrived last night, and has completed arrangements for his big show, for a one night's season at the Town Hall, on Thursday, February 10th. The Auckland Star, speaking of the opening of the Australian Cinematographe Company, says : —The managers of the cinematograph exhibition shown in the House last night have every reason to feel satisfied with the receipts of the first entertainment of the season here. The building was packed to the doors. It may safely be said that the management more than fulfilled what they had promised, the general opinion at the conclusion being that the exhibition was without doubt the finest of its kind ever shown in Auckland, and the largest pictures ever exhibited. The whole of the living pictures formed a most interesting programme, and evoked from the audience the warmest enthusiasm—a compliment which, it must be said, was richly deserved. To avoid high prices preventing attendance, the prices for admission are fixed for Thursday night at 2s and Is, children half-price. The season is positively limited to one night, owing to arrangements having been completed for the exhibition of this extraordinary achievement elsewhere.
