Nomination ss, acceptance ss. 2. District Maiden Race, of 10s sovs ; second horse to receive 1£ sovs from stakes ; for all horses (that have never won an advertised race of any description) between the Taungatara and Katekora Rivers. Weight for age; 7 furlongs. Entrance 10s. 3. Flying Handicap of 10 sovs ; second horse to receive 30s from the stakes; six furlongs. Nomination ss, acceptance ss. 4. Farmers' Plate, of 10 sovs; second horse to receive 30s from stakes. _ For all horses that have never been nominated for any race (Farmers' Plates excepted, and winners of those barred), and are not nominated for any other race at this meeting. Welter weight for age. Gentlemen riders. 7 furlongs. Entrance 10s. 5. Rahotu Cup Handicap, of 15 sovs ; second horse to receive 2 sovs from the stakes; If miles. Nomination 10s, acceptance ss. 6. Selling Race, of 10 sovs. The winner to become tbe property of the Club, and sold immediately after the race ; second horse to receive 2 sovs out of proceeds of sale. No weight under Bst 71b. 1 mile. Post entry 10s, 7. Pungarehu Handicap of 7£ sovs; second horse receive 1 sov from stakes; all|winners must nominate; 1 mile. Post entry : winners 7s 6d, losers 4s. NOMINATIONS, ACCEPTANCES, AND GENERAL ENTRIES. Nominations for Nos. 1, 3 and 5 close at Rahotu at 8 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, 23rd February, 1898. _ Weights will appear about the Ist March. ACCEPTANCES AND GENERAL ENTRIES for Nos. 2 and 4 close at 8 p.m. on MONDAY, 7th March. Telegraph Office closes at 5 p.m. RULES AND REGULATIONS. Nominations and entries must be sealed and addressed to the Hon. Secretary, Rahotu, with fees enclosed, and name, description, age, pedigree, and performance of the horse, name of owner, and colors of rider. No entry will be received for any race except upon tbese conditions: —That all disputes, claims, and objections arising out of the racing shall be. decided by a majority of the Stewards present, or those whom they may appoint, and their decision upon all points connected with the carrying out of this programme shall be final. The winners of any handicap after the publication of weights to carry a penalty of 71bs in Flying and Rahotu Handicaps. All races to be run under the Rules of Racing adopted by the Metropolitan Clubs of New Zealand. A Hack is a horse that has never won an advertised race (hack and hunter races excepted), and is not nominated at time of start for any race (hack and hunter races excepted).
