Messrs Nolan, Tonka and Co.’s . Stock Report. Hawjjra, November 19. At Eltham, on ICth inst,, the yards were well filled with useful cattle, and bidding was more spirited than of late, most lines being well competed for. At Hawera, on 18th inst,; we had a good entry, and succeeded in disposing of most Of them before leaving the yards. We quote— At Eltham—Springers, £3 to £4 ; good dairy cows, £4 to £5; dairy heifers, 32s to 38s ; forward steers, 36s to 425; fat cows, 63s to 68a; yearlings, 18s to 22s ; yearling steers, 20s to 255; 18 month do., 26s to 20s; 2-year do., 85a to 40s ; 2 to steers, £2 2s to £2 10a; weaners, 10s to 16s. At Hawera— Store cows, 22s to 28s; forward cows, 38s to 44s ; cows and calves, £2 to 425; yearling heifers, 16s to 18s; yearlings, 18s to 21a; yealing steers, 22s to 25s ; 18month do,, 26s to 30s ; 2-year steers, 37a to 40s; 2J-year steers, £2 7s Od ; dairy cows, £3 15s to £4 10s ; 18-month quiet heifers, 23s to 28s. Sheep.—Woolly hoggets, 9a 9d to 11a 6d ; cull hoggets, 5s to 8s; ewes and lambs, 10s. Mr Newton King’s Weekly Report. New Plvmodth, November 18. Cattle—At Ngaire, on Tuesday, I held a sale of Mr J H. Taylor’s dairy stock, etc,, when there was a fairly good attendance. The cows were looking well, and with a few exceptions an excellent lot. Bidding was brisk, and leaving out two or three cows and one or two heifers which were a bit shy, prices realised were very satisfaetoy. Cows just calved made £5 5s to £7 5s ; springers, £4 to £6 12s 9d ; heifers im milk, £2 5s to £4 10s. At Bahotn, on Wednesday, the yards were full. There was a good attendance and spirited bidding, nearly every pen being sold at the hammer at improved prices. Dairy • stock were dull of sale, but all young cattle and empty heifers sold well. Calves made, 7s 6d to 8s 6d ; yearlings, 18s 6d to 25s ; 12 to 15-month steers, 32s 6d ; 2 J-year steers, £2 10s to £3; empty heifers, 32s 6d to 35s ; heifers in calf, £2 3s Od ; store cows 80s to 40s. M«*ar« Hunter and Nolan’s Stock Report. Auckland, November 18. Cattle.—Fat beasts in average supply, barely maintained the previous week’s values. Dairy and store stock unchanged in value. At Newmarket fat beasts ranged from 16s to 18s. and cows, 15 to I6s IOOIbs, and including sold at from £5 15s to £l3 10b ; cows, £3 10s to £8 12s. Sheep—Prices were slightly in favor of purchaser. Wethers in wool, sold at from 12s to 13s 6d; ewes, 13s; shorn wethers 7s 6d to 11s ; shorn ewes, 6s 9d to 10s; sheep, in wool, 17s to 16s 3d ; shorn, 12s 6d to 14* 6d. Lambs, plentiful, sold from 7s to 13s 3d, London Markets. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report under date London, November 17tb, 1897 : Butter —Market firmer. Finest qualities range in value from 102 s to 106 s. Tallow is in good demand. New Zealand fine mutton tallow mutton. 20a 6d; New Zealand good beef tallow, 19s.
