Land Board.
Tbe Land Board met on Monday. Present —The Commissioner (Mr Bwa.:chon). Hon. T. Kelly, Messrs Stock, Heslo.', and Coutts. Applications for f: eehold wasa;-ic«ti U>f-om M. Bolger, rrctiou 106, block 7, Waimate. The Banger reported on the gro-vih of gorse on Goverment reserve section :S I, suburbs of Opnnake, and recomraeded ;aat it be offered for lease.—Held over for completion of survey. . A communication from the Waimate Koad Board with reference to a schedule of reserves for gravel pits was also deferred. Mr Barton, solicitor for J. G-orrie, applied for either a freehold or lease in perpetuity title to section 26, block 2, Oeo, which the Land Board granted a tenancy to Mr Gorrie of one acre The section is to be offered to public competition weighted with valuation for improvements. Tbe Commissioner raised the question o loading forfeited sections in improved farm Settlements with the value of improvements done by the selector at his own cost. The Board decided that in all cases of forfeiture the tenant shall not be entitled to consideration for valuation for improvements but in cases of surrender with consent of the Board each case shall be dealt on its merits.
